CWSOmaha.com Now Offers New Content and Features
More than 23 million ‘hits’ reported in 2004(OMAHA, Neb., Feb. 8, 2005) – College World Series of Omaha, Inc., has updated its Web site (www.CWSOmaha.com) for
2005 with new content, ticket information, photography and features,
according to Jack Diesing, Jr., president of College World Series of
Omaha, Inc.
“Through
August of last year, we had more than 23 million hits, which was a 166
percent increase over the previous year. During the
month of June alone, the Web site had more than 18 million hits, which
was a 50 percent increase for the same month in 2003. We want to keep
people coming back to the site by continually updating its content with
new photos and features,” Diesing said.
“The NCAA Web (www.ncaasports.com)
site does a tremendous job covering the actual games and our Web site is
intended to complement it by offering deeper information about
the logistics and events surrounding the games,” Diesing noted.
Last year’s Web site averaged more than 32,000 visitors daily during the week of the series.
About 90 percent of the traffic came from the United States, with the
remaining visitors representing 32 other countries. In addition, 5,140
e-mails were sent to the site’s Webmaster and received a response.
“We’re adjusting the content of this year’s Web site to reflect those pages that drew the heaviest traffic in 2004. We know
that the most trafficked pages carried information on tickets, teams,
the game schedules and photo gallery, so we’ll be expanding
and improving those sections for Series fans,” Diesing said.
This year’s Web site currently
includes basic information about the NCAA Men’s College World Series,
where to stay in Omaha, local attractions to visit, ticket availability
and Press Center.
In 2004, general admission ticket
books were offered through the Web site for the first time. More than
700 books were sold online from April 19 to May 7. The feature
was designed to make purchasing general admission tickets
more convenient for out-of-town fans who do not have the option of
buying tickets through participating businesses and service clubs in
the greater Omaha area.
As the
Series approaches, new information about Opening Ceremonies and other
events connected to the Series will be added to the Web site.
“When the
Series starts and as developments occur, the dynamic nature of the site
will enable us to update the Web site daily with ticket and
other information as it becomes available. We
also will offer more photography throughout the site, including -postcards and wallpaper that you can download on your
computer screen,” Diesing added.
“Our Web
site is now linked from hundreds of sites around the country and the
world, from our own Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce to sites as far
away as Japan,” Diesing added. College
World
Series of Omaha, Inc., is a non-profit organization and the
local organizing committee for the annual NCAA Men’s College World
Series. This year’s event gets underway with Opening Ceremonies on June
16, and concludes June 26 or 27 with the final Championship game.
