We recognize that there are out of town visitors that may come from a state where the laws regarding the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public differ from those in place here in Omaha. It is for this reason that we would like to include the following city ordinances regarding drinking in public places.
Ordinance #15-13: Consumption of Liquor on Public Right-Of-Way. This ordinance basically states that it is unlawful for any person to consume alcoholic liquor in public. This includes streets, alleys, parking areas or other public right-of-way. Ordinance #15-14: Possession of open containers in public places. This law basically states that unless otherwise permitted by law or ordinance or authorized by a license it is unlawful for any person to have in their possession or physical control any open containers which contains alcoholic liquor while on any street, highway, boulevard, alley, public or privately owned parking lot that is open to the public, public sidewalks, or other public way within the city. This also includes any grounds or property within the city owned by or under control of the city or other public subdivision.
