College World Series of Omaha, Inc., Announces Sale Of General Admission Tickets Starting April 17

14,752 General Admission Ticket Books Sold Last Year

(OMAHA, NEB.  April 12, 2006) – An allotment of 2,500 general admission ticket books will be available for purchase online through www.CWSOmaha.com beginning April 17, according to Herb Hames, Ticket Chairman of College World Series of Omaha, Inc.  Each book of 10 general admission tickets purchased online will cost $60, plus shipping charges, which will vary based on the shipment option selected.

“Online availability of general admission tickets has proven to be especially popular among out-of-town fans who do not have the option of buying tickets through participating businesses and volunteers in the greater Omaha area,” Hames noted.

In Omaha and the surrounding area, general admission tickets costing $60 per book of 10 tickets will be on sale through area service clubs, at all Hy-Vee and Bakers supermarket customer service counters, the Omaha World-Herald, Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Rosenblatt Stadium and other locations throughout the metro area.  A list of service clubs is available at www.CWSOmaha.com.

A limited number of general admission ticket books will be available by phone through Rosenblatt Stadium (402-738-5144, ask for Jeff), from the Qwest Center (402-341-1500, ask for general admission College World Series ticket sales), and Mid-America Center (712-326-2260, ask for Joe V.)

General admission ticket books are also available via mail order by sending $60, plus $5 to cover shipping and handling for up to five books, to College World Series of Omaha, Inc., 5010 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE 68132.  When ordering five or more books, shipping and handling is $10.  Make checks payable to CWS.

“Last year, we sold 14,752 ticket books, or 147,520 general admission tickets, indicating the popularity of these seats,” Hames reported.  “The price is so right that families, ball teams, Cub Scouts and groups wishing to sit together can afford to come out and enjoy the Series.”

By purchasing a book of 10 general admission tickets, the buyer saves $30 over the cost of buying 10 general admission tickets at the Rosenblatt Stadium box office at $9 apiece.  And while general admission tickets do not guarantee a seat, those ticket holders who arrive early will always find a seat open in the bleacher section with its 5,400 seating capacity.

“This year we’ve added a couple more sessions, which should benefit general admission ticket holders,” Hames said.  “Before, when there were doubleheader sessions, people would stay in their seats for both games.  This year, there will be two additional opportunities to attend the games with general admission tickets.”

General admission tickets may be used for any game as long as the holder arrives early enough to be admitted, or may be upgraded to reserved seats at Rosenblatt Stadium’s box office the day of the game under the following guidelines:

  • Pay the $9 difference in price between the general admission ticket (which costs $9 at the Rosenblatt Stadium box office) and reserved ticket ($18).
  • General admission tickets may be upgraded starting at 10 a.m. on the day of the game.
  • For championship games, pay the $16 difference in price between the general admission ticket (valued at $9) and reserved ticket ($25).

“Approximately 1,000 reserved seat tickets are held for each game at Rosenblatt Stadium box office throughout the Series, so chances are good that people can upgrade their general admission tickets if they get there early,” Hames said.  “Reserved seat tickets become available as unused team tickets are released for sale each game day starting at 10 a.m.”

“We’re also encouraging people to donate ticket books to their favorite youth-based charities,” Hames said.  “Over the years, thousands of underprivileged children have enjoyed a day at the College World Series as a result of these donations and the generosity of people who made them.”

Reserved seat tickets for regular session games of the NCAA Men’s College World Series will go on sale starting May 6, at 10 a.m. Central Daylight Time.  Reserved tickets will be available at Rosenblatt Stadium and selected Midwest Ticketmaster outlets, which will use a lottery system to determine the buying order.  A list of Ticketmaster outlets is available Ticketmaster on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.  Individuals may use that same e-mail address to charge tickets online, or by phone at (402) 422-1212.

“We have about 1,000 reserved tickets available for regular sessions on May 6, and we know from experience that they will sell very fast. All Ticketmaster walk up outlets will use a lottery system to determine purchase order. We recommend arriving about 9:15 a.m. to participate in the lottery, which will take place at approximately 9:30 a.m.,” Hames said.

Numbers will be handed out at random to ticket buyers at each Ticketmaster location before 9:30 a.m. on May 6.  Once these have been distributed, a number will be drawn at 9:30 a.m. to determine the first person in line to buy College World Series tickets when sales officially open at 10 a.m.  Buying order will then follow sequentially from the initial number drawn,” said Hames.

Each reserved ticket buyer will be limited to a maximum of four regular sessions and up to six tickets per session.  Individual game tickets for reserved seats cost $18 for regular sessions.

Tickets for the championship series go on sale June 23 through the Rosenblatt box office as well as Ticketmaster nationwide (ticketmaster.com, Charge By Phone and selected outlets). Tickets purchased on the phone or on the Internet through Ticketmaster will be available for pick up at Rosenblatt's box office Will Call window.  Championship Game tickets are $25 for reserve seats and $30 for box.

College World Series of Omaha, Inc. is a non-profit organization and the local organizing committee for the annual NCAA Division I Championship Baseball College World Series.  This year’s event gets underway with Opening Ceremonies on June 15 and concludes June 25 or 26 with the final Championship game.
