(OMAHA, Neb. March 27, 2006) – Eight NCAA Men’s Division I College World Series Ambassadors have been selected from a field of 16 finalists during judging that concluded March 24. College World Series of Omaha Inc. received a total of 52 applications. The Ambassadors will work during the College World Series with local CWS of Omaha officials, service organizations that host the participating teams, and the NCAA. The students also are available for interviews with area news media to raise awareness of the event.
This year’s Ambassadors are Kiley Abdouch, a senior from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) majoring in English; Alison Benson, who is completing medical school at the University of Nebraska Medical Center; Erin Foster, a UNL junior majoring in Birth to 3rd Grade Education with a minor in Special Education; Paige Frazier, a UNL junior majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing; Brittany Love, a UNL sophomore majoring in Broadcasting and Public Relations; Matthew Reilly, a senior from Creighton University majoring in Economics and Finance; Daniel Schreiber, a Creighton University junior majoring in Marketing; and Jordan Weiss, a sophomore at Midland Lutheran College majoring in Business and Sports Management with a minor in History.
One of the eight students selected to be an Ambassador will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship from Mutual of Omaha, which is this year’s sponsor of the Ambassador program. The scholarship will be awarded based on participation in CWS activities, recommendations by the service clubs, enthusiasm, work ethic, promptness at activities, evaluation by the event management and other criteria relating to the volunteer efforts of each participant including, but not limited to, working with the news media and attending team functions.
All Ambassadors receive reserved seating for the games and participate in a variety of functions and assignments coordinated by local service clubs and College World Series of Omaha, Inc.
College World Series of Omaha, Inc. is a non-profit organization and the local organizing committee for the annual NCAA Division I Championship Baseball College World Series. This year’s event gets underway with Opening Ceremonies on June 15 and concludes June 25 or 26 with the final Championship game.
