| CWSOmaha.com Will Provide Key Content en Espanol |
More than 34 million ‘hits’ reported in 2005(OMAHA, Neb., Jan. 25, 2006) – College World Series of Omaha, Inc., will update its Web site (www.CWSOmaha.com) for 2006 with new content, graphics and a section containing key information about the event en Espanol, according to Jack Diesing, Jr., president of College World Series of Omaha, Inc. General admission ticket books will also be available for purchase on the site beginning in April.
“Sometime in late-March, Spanish-language visitors to the Web site will be able to access online game schedules, ticket information and special activities by clicking through to a special series of pages,” Diesing noted. “In the past, we have translated our advertising into Spanish for use in Hispanic newspapers, on Hispanic radio and on billboards, but this is the first year we’re doing it on the Web site.”
“Last year, we had more than 34 million hits, which was a 21 percent increase over 2004. During June 2005, the Web site had more than 27 million hits, which was a 50 percent increase over the same month in 2004. These numbers indicate that our efforts to continually refresh the Web site with new photos and features have people coming back to the site,” Diesing said. “Our Web site is intended to complement the NCAA Web site (www.ncaasports.com ) where people can find statistics and actual game information. Visitors come to our Web site for information about where to stay in Omaha, local attractions to visit, ticket availability, special activities and our Press Center,” Diesing said. Last year, CWSomaha.com had 43,000 visitors per day visitors daily during the week of the Series compared to 32,000 in 2004. About 93 percent of the traffic came from the United States, with the remaining visitors representing 112 other countries. An allotment of 2,500 general admission ticket books will be available for purchase through the Web site beginning April 17. Each book of 10 general admission tickets purchased online will cost $60, plus shipping charges. Online availability of general admission tickets has proven to be especially popular among out-of-town fans who do not have the option of buying tickets through participating businesses and service clubs in the greater Omaha area. “As the Series approaches, the dynamic nature of the Web site allows us to update the Web site daily with ticket and other information as it becomes available. We also will offer more photography throughout the site, including new e-postcards and wallpaper that are already available online to download on your computer screen,” Diesing added. “The Web site is now linked from hundreds of sites around the country and the world, from our own Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce to sites as far away as Japan.” College World Series of Omaha, Inc., is a non-profit organization and the local organizing committee for the annual NCAA Division I Championship Baseball College World Series. This year’s event gets underway with Opening Ceremonies on June 15 and concludes June 25 or 26 with the final Championship game. |
