(OMAHA, Neb., June 12, 2007) — Rain delays at the NCAA Men’s College World Series need no longer be an unpleasant surprise. This year, Series fans can receive text messages alerting them to important game updates on their wireless phones, thanks to AT&T. AT&T, a Corporate Champion of the NCAA®, is offering the Men’s College World Series Text Alert Program for all fans, regardless of wireless provider. Through the program, fans will receive text alerts that keep them up to date on rainouts, game time changes, special autograph appearances at the AT&T Tent, team advancement, parking and other timely reminders. Fans can register for the new service through short code by texting* MCWS to 345345 or by visiting the Men’s College World Series Web site, www.CWSomaha.com. Once fans register via the short code, they will receive a confirmation text message and can stop receiving the alerts at any time by simply replying STOP to any text alert. If they register via the link on the Web site, they will be asked for a phone number and e-mail address to verify their phone number. Standard text messaging rates will apply and will be based on individual rate plans with wireless providers. “The Men’s College World Series Text Alerts program will deliver important tournament changes directly to the handsets of fans, ensuring that they never miss a moment of the action,” said David Garver, executive director of high-growth segments and sponsorships for AT&T's wireless unit. “As a Corporate Champion of the NCAA, we are excited to offer unique services that keep college baseball fans engaged.” “In the past few years, our Web site has received an increasing number of requests for access to changing information,” said Jack Diesing Jr., president of College World Series of Omaha, Inc. “Out-of-town baseball fans caught without a computer are often the last to know about changes. Now, they can be among the first, thanks to AT&T.” “As the Men’s College World Series fan base grows to include more tech-savvy, travelers from other cities, we would like to cater to their needs with the most popular technology possible,” Diesing added.
