Those are the guys who got us here and this is for all the marbles.” Georgia shortstop Gordon Beckham (about the blooper in left field): “I wish I had gone out there and caught it. I thought Lyle would be there. It was loud too and I couldn’t hear him. Obviously now I wish I had gone after it.” (on watching Fresno State score so many runs): “It’s pretty tough. They had a merry-go-ground going. They’re a good team and anyone that thought they were out of it is crazy.” (on if the team started thinking about the championship up 5-0): “It was too early. We weren’t caught off guard and we didn’t let down. They just beat us.” (on game three): “It’ll be a battled of undefeated teams in elimination games. It’s going to be a dog fight.” Fresno State Head Coach Mike Batesole (opening statement): “It wasn’t the first time this club has answered the bell when it had to. I thought they worked hard for every out we got today. It was one win. Today puts us in a place where we have a chance to win tomorrow.” (about this team being road warriors): “This club has a lot of heart. I keep saying that because it is true. They’ve been going, going, going and we’re going to go for another nine innings tomorrow.” (about the team’s home runs during the CWS): “Tomorrow is the day that is important. So far tomorrow we haven’t had any. It’s another game tomorrow. Win. Lose. We have another game tomorrow.” Fresno State left fielder Steve Susdorf (about tonight’s comeback): “The biggest thing was there was no sense of panic.” (about whether during the WAC tournament, he thought this team would be playing in the national championship game): “Throughout the season we knew we had the tools to do it. To put it all together, it is definitely a pretty special feeling. It’s hard to explain.” Fresno State second baseman Erik Wetzel (about being down 5-0 in bottom of 3rd inning): “Every time we get runners on, it makes things happen. I think everyone feeds off that.” |
