Get scores from NCAA

Creighton University

ImageCreighton plays an integral role in the NCAA Men's College World Series each year as host institution. Under the leadership of Father John P. Schlegel, S.J., President and Bruce Rasmussen, Athletics Director, Creighton makes sure the teams have what they need to be at their best.

Among the many roles Creighton plays as host is the coordination of practice fields for the visiting teams.

Creighton’s training staff is involved in lining up trainers and all the medical staff (e.g., orthopedic specialist, dentist, eye doctor, etc.) to attend each game. Each team has a trainer assigned to it for their games.

Carol Ketcham, Athletic Development Director at Creighton, has been involved with the College World Series for 30 years. She lines up, coordinates and distributes the 48 courtesy cars that go to teams and officials. Each team gets three automobiles. One week before the Series, Dennis Poppe and his staff from the NCAA come up and Carol helps his assistant with the team tickets and corporate sponsor tickets. She sets up office at Rosenblatt for three weeks prior to the Series.

Creighton sports information department acts as a backup to the official scorer, Lou Spry. Creighton staff keeps score electronically, printing out the play-by-play sheets and the official box scores that are passed out to the media throughout the press box. This used to be done by hand, but now Creighton sports information directors input the information in coordination with Spry.
