What is the Men's College World Series® Ticket Exchange and how does it work?
This fan-to-fan Ticket Exchange is the NCAA®'s online service,
supported by Ticketmaster®, which enables season ticket holders to sell
single game tickets that they will not be able to use for the NCAA®
Division I Men's College World Series® (CWS). Sellers are guaranteed
payment for tickets sold, without having to collect payment or deliver
the tickets to the buyer. Buyers simply select the ticket(s) they want
based on price and seat location, without bidding against other buyers,
without coordinating delivery from anonymous sellers, and without
risking that the tickets are legitimate. While Ticket Exchange has been
used across the country for other events, the NCAA is offering it for
the first time this year for the Men's College World Series.
How do season ticket holders access Ticket Exchange?
Each season ticket holder will receive a mailing explaining how Ticket
Exchange works. Within the mailing will be a letter with an access code
or Personal Identification Number (PIN) assigned specifically to each
season ticket account. They will also receive an account ID. The season
ticket holder uses both the PIN and ID the first time they access their
account. Once the account is accessed initially, the season ticket
holder will have the ability to change their PIN to an access code they
find easy to remember for future use. To start this process, the season
ticket holder goes to theseason ticket section and logs onto their account.
Why should fans use Ticket Exchange to purchase tickets?
Although tickets can be found through unauthorized ticket resellers,
the NCAA® has established Ticket Exchange as the only official and
sanctioned resale option for fans. Because the primary ticket sales
entity for the Men's College World Series® is Ticketmaster®, only
Ticket Exchange can guarantee legitimate tickets through the use of
Ticketmaster's barcode technology. If fans purchase tickets sold
through a source other than Ticket Exchange, they have no way of
knowing whether the tickets are counterfeit or have been invalidated.
However, with Ticket Exchange once a ticket is sold, its original
barcode is cancelled and a new barcode is assigned so the buyer knows
that the ticket is valid. Ticket Exchange represents another purchasing
option for fans in the event a particular game is sold out at the box
office or should they desire to sit in a certain location and those
tickets aren't available.
How are my tickets delivered?
The NCAA® is offering Ticketmaster's TicketFast® service, which enables
the buyer to download and print bar-coded tickets on a personal
computer. Because the bar code is the most important part of the
ticket, a sheet of computer paper can become a ticket. Some fans may
prefer the other option of picking up their tickets at any window at
Rosenblatt Stadium's box office. Learn more about TicketFast® at: http://www.ticketmaster.com/h/ticketfast.html.
What fees are associated with selling tickets?
When a season ticket is sold through Ticket Exchange, the seller
determines the price that the ticket will be offered or the "posting
price." The seller fee is 10 percent of the posting price. If tickets
posted for resale on Ticket Exchange are not sold before the expiration
date and time, no fees are assessed to the season ticket holder
offering the tickets for sale. The listing is automatically removed and
the original tickets will still be valid for entry.
How do season ticket holders who sell tickets through Ticket Exchange get paid?
Season ticket holders who sell single game tickets through the official
Ticket Exchange platform will receive a check from CWS of Omaha, Inc.
following the end of the Series.
What fees are associated with buying tickets?
The buyer will pay a fee of 15 percent of the posting price. That fee
is included in the purchase price. The buyer also will pay $1.95, per
ticket, for authentication and delivery.
What if I do not receive my tickets purchased through Ticket Exchange?
If the buyer does not receive the tickets by e-mail or, if the buyer
cannot view the tickets attached to the purchase confirmation e-mail,
the buyer should contact Ticketmaster at teamexchange@ticketmaster.com or call 866/381-8924. If I cannot use the tickets I purchased on Ticket Exchange, can I re-sell them on TIcket Exchange? Yes. If you purchase tickets on Ticket Exchange and find out you can no longer attend that game, you may re-post these tickets for sale on Ticket Exchange. On the Ticket Exchange page, please click on "Sell Tickets on Ticket Exchange" and enter the account information you used for your initial purchase. This will bring up the tickets you have in your account. Select the tickets you wish to post for sale and choose your posting price and an expiration date for the sale. After you click Continue, you can review your posting and then click Post Tickets for Sale. The ability to post and sell tickets on Ticket Exchange is available until four hours prior to each game. If the tickets sell, you will receive a check from College World Series of Omaha following the CWS, so please make sure the name and address on the account is accurate. If they do not sell, the tickets you purchased on Ticket Exchange are still valid and can still be used for that game.
Are all CWS tickets available for posting?
No. There are restrictions on what CWS tickets are available for resale
through Ticket Exchange. Only CWS tickets, paid in full by season
ticket holders, are eligible for resale through Ticket Exchange. Other
restrictions may include, but are not limited to:
--Tickets may not be sold less than four hours in advance of the beginning of a game.
--Tickets may not be sold for games that are "to be determined." For
example, "if necessary" games on Saturday, June 26, will not be sold.
Likewise, the Finals Game #3, on June 30, will not be allowed to be
sold because it will only be played if it is necessary to break a tie
to determine the National Division I Champions.
--Tickets that do not meet the NCAA's criteria (e.g. team tickets).
--The NCAA reserves the right to make any changes to the selling rules and procedures at any time without prior notice.
What about ordering tickets from my mobile phone or BlackBerry?
The NCAA is committed to studying all changes and developments in the
ticket industry with an eye toward doing whatever it can to improve the
services and experiences of NCAA fans. The NCAA is proud to offer a
diverse menu of ticketing options to its fans and season ticket
holders, such as the new Ticket Exchange feature. While BlackBerry
users are able to search Ticketmaster's inventory and purchase tickets
on their handsets, Ticketmaster does not anticipate much, if any use of
this option, during the NCAA Division I Men's College World Series.
Aren't you legalizing the resale of tickets?
The NCAA has the good fortune of a strong season ticket holder base
that occupies most of the reserved seating for the CWS. This makes it
difficult for other CWS fans to get access to CWS tickets. In addition
to the Advance Sale, general admission tickets and daily box office
sales, we hope this platform provides CWS fans one more fair and safe
means to access tickets. The NCAA also wants to give fans, who
otherwise would risk being taken advantage of by unauthorized
resellers, the confidence of knowing that the tickets are legitimate.
Does the NCAA® endorse any other ticket resellers for individual games offered by CWS season ticket holders?
Only Ticket Exchange, supported by Ticketmaster®, has been authorized
by the NCAA® for reselling individual game tickets offered by CWS
season ticket holders. However, PrimeSport, the Official Ticket Package
Provider for the Men's College World Series, has been authorized to
resell tickets within a package (e.g., tickets as part of a package
containing travel, hotel, hospitality, etc.). Other ticket resellers,
even with similar sounding names, are not endorsed by the NCAA.
What is meant by "forwarding" tickets?
With the Ticket Exchange platform, season ticket holders also have the
ability to electronically forward single game tickets to others through
their online account. Ticket Forwarding is a convenient option when you
don't wish to resell a ticket but want to provide fans with the
opportunity to attend a game as your guest. Ticket Forwarding
eliminates the uncertainty of mail delivery, the inconvenience of a
personal exchange or the cost of courier service. The cost to season
ticket holders to use the forwarding feature is $1.95 per ticket.
Does this mean season ticket holders no longer risk having their tickets revoked when they sell them?
Under the law, season tickets can generally be revoked with or without
cause. However, with the CWS now stretching into an event lasting
almost two weeks, it is understandable that even the most loyal season
ticket holders may not be able to attend every game. The NCAA® wants to
allow season ticket holders a sanctioned outlet where they can safely
sell tickets that would otherwise go unused. Additionally, when season
ticket holders can't attend a game, the NCAA® wants to make these
tickets available to fans locally and across the country. It is
important to note that Ticket Exchange will be monitored to ensure that
season ticket holders do not abuse this accommodation by selling all,
or most, of the allocation of tickets online each year. If a season
ticket holder resells tickets without using Ticket Exchange, they do
risk having their tickets revoked.
What is still considered illegal ticket reselling in Omaha?
According to Omaha's Municipal Code it is unlawful for any person to
resell, or attempt to resell, a ticket for an amount greater than its
face value within one-half mile of Rosenblatt Stadium.
