Beginning this year, NCAA® Division I Men’s College World Series® season ticket holders will be allowed to sell their extra reserved seat tickets online through TicketExchange, which is authorized by the NCAA®, according to Herb Hames, ticket chairman for College World Series of Omaha Inc. While TicketExchange, supported by Ticketmaster, has been used across the country for other events, the NCAA is offering it for the first time this year for the Men’s College World Series.
Using the fan-to-fan TicketExchange platform, buyers can be confident that tickets are legitimate. Once a season reserved seat ticket is purchased, its original barcode is canceled for the seller and a new barcode is assigned for the buyer, ensuring the ticket being delivered is valid. TicketExchange eliminates the need for season ticket holders to coordinate delivery or transfer of unused tickets.
“TicketExchange provides fans with a fair and safe access to CWS tickets that are not being used on a particular day by season ticket holders,” Hames advised. “The NCAA wants to give fans who otherwise would risk being taken by unauthorized resellers the confidence of knowing that tickets are legitimate.”
Season ticket holders who sell CWS tickets through the official TicketExchange will receive a check from CWS of Omaha, Inc. following the end of the Series. When a season ticket is sold through TicketExchange, the seller determines the price that the ticket will be offered or the “posting price.” The seller fee is 10 percent of the posting price. If tickets posted for resale on TicketExchange are not sold before the expiration date and time, no fees are assessed to the season ticket holder offering the tickets for sale. The listing is automatically removed and the original tickets will still be valid for entry.
The NCAA offers Ticketmaster’s TicketFast® service, which enables the buyer to download and print bar-coded tickets on a personal computer. Because the bar code is the most important part of the ticket, a sheet of computer paper can become a ticket. Some fans may prefer the other option of picking up their tickets at Rosenblatt Stadium ticket windows. Learn more about TicketFast at: http://www.ticketmaster.com/h/ticketfast.html.
Sellers are guaranteed payment for tickets sold, without having to collect payment or deliver the tickets to the buyer. Buyers simply select the ticket(s) they want based on price and seat location, without bidding against other buyers, without coordinating delivery from anonymous sellers, and without the risk that the tickets are not legitimate.
“Using this platform provides a safe outlet for season ticket holders to sell their Men’s College World Series reserved seat tickets that they don’t plan to use on a particular day,” Hames added. “Because the primary ticket sales entity for the Men’s College World Series® is Ticketmaster®, only TicketExchange can guarantee legitimate tickets through the use of Ticketmaster’s barcode technology. If fans purchase tickets sold through a source other than TicketExchange, they have no way of knowing whether the tickets are counterfeit or have been invalidated.”
With the TicketExchange platform, season ticket holders also have the ability to electronically forward individual game tickets to others through their online account. Ticket Forwarding is a convenient option for season ticket holders who don’t wish to resell a ticket but want to provide someone the opportunity to attend a game as a guest. Ticket Forwarding eliminates the uncertainty of mail delivery, the inconvenience of a personal exchange or the cost of courier service. The cost to season ticket holders to use the forwarding feature is $1.95 per ticket.
