Larger Than Life Projection ‘Wave’ a Fun, First-Time Fan Experience

Nearly 3,000 Fans Make Appearance on 10th Street

About 3,000 fans are a part of the 2013 Men’s NCAA® College World Series® in a big way, whether they are at the games or not, through a virtual ‘wave’ appearing on CenturyLink Center Omaha nightly through the conclusion of the Series.

“Photos of fans taken at a CWS Photo Booth are projected on the CenturyLink Center Omaha wall near the southwest side of the building from dusk to about midnight nightly throughout the CWS schedule,” said Dan Morrissey, Director of  Marketing and Events for College World Series of Omaha, Inc.

“This is the first time we’ve done this for the CWS and the first time anything has been projected on the CenturyLink Center Omaha building,” Morrissey said.  “This is a fun, vibrant way for baseball fans and Omaha area residents to be a part of the excitement of this great community event.

Fans’ photos were taken at the CWS Photo Booth at Fan Fest, Omaha Summer Arts Festival and Taste of Omaha events. Four photos of each fan or group of fans create a “wave” effect. In partnership with Ballantyne Strong, a 4,000-watt, theater quality, high resolution Barco projector at the Hilton Omaha hotel displays the images. A constant flow of fan photos include as many fans as possible.

“This is a wonderful community collaboration to give fans this experience,” Morrissey added. The cooperative effort includes the support of the city of Omaha, the Zoning Board of Appeals, MECA, Hilton Omaha and the donation of staff and equipment by Ballantyne Strong and many others.”
