College World Series of Omaha Inc. Announces Advanced Reserved Seat Ticket Sale on April 19
1,300 Single Qualifying Game Reserved Seat Tickets Available
(OMAHA, Neb., April 17, 2007) – Reserved seat tickets for individual games of the NCAA Men’s College World Series, which starts June 14, will go on sale starting Saturday, April 19 at 10 a.m. Central Daylight Time, according to Herb E. Hames, ticket chairman of College World Series of Omaha Inc. Nearly 1,300 single qualifying game reserved seat tickets will be available at Rosenblatt Stadium and selected Midwest Ticketmaster outlets, as well as by phone at 402-422-1212 and online at www.ticketmaster.com.
“These tickets will sell very fast, and we’ve learned from past experience that buying them online offers the highest chance of success,” Hames acknowledged. “People who buy tickets at Rosenblatt Stadium and Ticketmaster retail locations are advised to arrive at about 9:15 a.m. to participate in a lottery system used to determine purchase order. The lottery will take place at approximately 9:30 a.m. to determine the first person in line to buy tickets when sales officially open at 10 a.m. Buying order will follow sequentially from the initial number drawn.”
Individual qualifying game tickets for reserved seats cost $19 and $24 for a box seat to individual qualifying games. Tickets for the Finals games will not be available until it is known which teams will be playing.
Beginning this year, both reserved seat and general admission tickets have bar codes, which will be scanned as fans enter the stadium. This is the same technology used by the Qwest Center for concerts and other sporting events, such as this year’s NCAA men’s basketball tournament games. “As soon as tickets are scanned, they are automatically cancelled and cannot be reused, Hames noted. “Since there’s no way to tell a scanned ticket from one that’s unscanned, scalpers may attempt to resell used tickets to unsuspecting buyers.”
Once the Series begins, a limited number of reserved seats are available on a daily basis for purchase at the Rosenblatt box office. Purchases can only be made at the ticket window – orders will not be accepted by telephone or the Internet. The box office opens at 10 a.m. Central time when the first game is at 1 p.m. and at noon Central time with the first game is played at 6 p.m.
Earlier this week, College World Series general admission tickets costing $70 per book of 10 tickets went on sale through area service clubs, at all Hy-Vee supermarket customer service counters, Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Rosenblatt Stadium and other locations throughout the metro area.
Ticket books are also available online through www.CWSOmaha.com and via mail order by sending $70, plus $5 to cover shipping and handling for up to five books, to College World Series of Omaha Inc., 5010 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE 68132. When ordering five or more books, shipping and handling is $10. Make checks payable to CWS. Each book of 10 general admission tickets purchased online will cost $70, plus shipping charges, which will vary based on the shipment option selected.
While general admission tickets do not guarantee a seat, ticket holders who arrive early should find a seat open in the bleachers, which have a capacity for nearly 5,400 fans. General admission tickets may be used for any game as long as the holder arrives early enough to be admitted, or may be upgraded to reserved seats at Rosenblatt Stadium’s box office the day of the game under the following guidelines:
• General admission tickets may be upgraded starting at 10 a.m. on days with 1 p.m. games scheduled, or starting at noon on those days when only 6 p.m. games are scheduled. • Pay the $9 difference in price between the general admission ticket (which costs $10 at the Rosenblatt Stadium box office) and reserved ticket ($19). • For championship games, pay the $16 difference in price between the general admission ticket (valued at $10) and reserved ticket ($26).
Ticket buyers are encouraged to purchase only from reliable vendors. “We’re making every effort to ensure that fans have an enjoyable time and part of that effort involves preventing them from being scammed by ticket scalpers,” Hames added. “If you buy tickets from someone on the street, there’s no guarantee that it’s a valid ticket.”
