SUBJECT: Coverage of the 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship The information below should help you in following the 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship. You are encouraged to make the information contained in this memorandum available to all the electronic and print media in your area. REGIONAL SITES AND HOSTS TO BE ANNOUNCED SUNDAY, MAY 25, ON ESPN2 AT APPROXIMATLY 7 P.M. EASTERN TIME The 16 regional sites and hosts will be announced on ESPN2 and at www.ncaa.com at approximately 7 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday, May 25. Following the regional sites announcement will be an AUDIO ONLY, 60-minute news conference from approximately 7:30-8:30 p.m. Eastern Time. NCAA Division I Baseball Committee chair Larry Templeton, director of athletics at Mississippi State University, will answer questions from the media once the regional sites and hosts are announced. Beginning at 10 p.m., Eastern Time, Sunday, May 25, media and fans can hear a complete replay of the regional site selections news conference by calling 402-220-1017. Normal long distance rates will be charged to all callers. 64-TEAM BRACKET ANNOUNCEMENT TO BE TELECAST LIVE ON ESPN, MONDAY, MAY 26, AT 12:30 P.M. EASTERN TIME. The 2008 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship 64-team field, with first-round regional pairings and site assignments, will be revealed in a live, half-hour telecast on ESPN at 12:30 p.m. Eastern time, Monday, May 26. The 35-minute program will originate from ESPN studios in Bristol, Connecticut. One-half hour after the conclusion of the ESPN telecast, committee chair Larry Templeton will answer questions from the media via an AUDIO ONLY telephonic hookup from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern time. Sports information directors should consider conducting a news conference with their head coach after watching the announcement on campus or at a local restaurant that can access ESPN. Beginning at 4 p.m., Eastern Time, Monday, May 26, media and fans can hear a complete replay of the news conference by calling 402-220-1017. Normal long distance rates will be charged to all callers. LIVE STATISTICS FOR ALL NCAA DIVISION I BASEBALL TOURNAMENT GAMES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON NCAA.COM. Live play-by-play and statistics for all regional and super regional games will be available on ncaa.com. Game information will be updated directly from all 16 regional, eight super regional sites and all games from Omaha. SUPER REGIONAL SITES TO BE ANNOUNCED MONDAY, JUNE 2 AT APPROXIMATELY 11 P.M. EASTERN TIME, VIA PRESS RELEASE AND AT WWW.NCAA.COM. The eight super regional sites and hosts will be announced via press release and at www.ncaa.com Monday, June 2 at approximately 11 p.m. Eastern time. Four of the super regionals will be played from Friday, June 6, through Sunday, June 8 (if a third game is necessary), and four will start Saturday, June 7, with possible third games of the best-of-three series taking place on Monday, June 9. ALL SUPER REGIONAL GAMES WILL BE TELEVISED LIVE BY ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU AND ESPN360.COM ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU and ESPN360.com simulcast will provide live coverage of all super regional games as those networks will have 24 national broadcast windows from June 6 through June 9. MEN’S COLLEGE WORLD SERIES GAME TIMES TO TENTATIVELY BE ANNOUNCED LIVE ON THE ESPN NETWORKS MONDAY, JUNE 9 AT A TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED The game times and order of play for the 62nd annual Men’s College World Series will tentatively be announced on the ESPN networks Monday, June 9 at a time to be announced. Game times will also be released on www.ncaa.com . Determination, of which of the two, first-round games open each day's play, will be announced at this time. “STATE OF BASEBALL” PRESS CONFERENCE, FRIDAY, JUNE 13, 2-2:45 P.M. EASTERN TIME Mr. Templeton will be joined by NCAA Vice-President for Baseball and Football Dennis Poppe and American Baseball Coaches Association Executive Director Dave Keilitz to answer questions regarding collegiate baseball issues. This press conference will take place Friday, June 13, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Eastern time in the Hall of Fame Room at Rosenblatt Stadium. MCWS PRESERIES NEWS CONFERENCE SCHEDULED TO BE CARRIED LIVE ON ESPNU AND CBS COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK, FRIDAY, JUNE 13, AT 3 P.M. EASTERN TIME. The annual preseries news conference, featuring the head coaches of all eight Men’s College World Series participants, is scheduled to be telecast live from Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, on ESPNU and CBS College Sports Network, Friday, June 13, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern time. MCWS CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS NEWS CONFERENCE SCHEDULED TO BE CARRIED LIVE ON ESPNU AND CBS COLLEGE SPORTS NETWORK, SUNDAY, JUNE 22, AT NOON EASTERN TIME. The championship series news conference, featuring the head coaches and selected players from the final two Men’s College World Series participants, is scheduled to be telecast live from Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska, on ESPNU and CBS College Sports Network, Sunday, June 22, beginning at noon Eastern time.
