March 3 is Deadline to Submit National Anthem Performer Applications for 2008 Men’s College World Series®

(OMAHA, Neb. – Feb. 28, 2008) –  March 3 at 5 p.m. is the deadline for singers and musicians to submit their completed applications to perform the National Anthem during the 2008 Men’s College World Series® (MCWS), according to Katie Karmazin, National Anthem coordinator. Interested performers will find application forms online at http://www.cwsomaha.com/anthem-auditions.html.

Completed applications must be submitted to Meeting & Event Design Inc., 5010 Dodge Street, Omaha, NE 68132, Karmazin noted. Applications must be accompanied by one a cappella rendition of the National Anthem with no voice enhancements or background singers and musicians. Tapes and CDs will not be returned.

“Due to space limitations, groups with more than 22 members are discouraged from applying,” Karmazin advised. “A panel of judges will review all submitted tapes and CDs and applicants will be notified of their status by mail during the week of March 10. The top 40 applicants will be asked to audition live at Rosenblatt Stadium on Saturday, March 29, beginning at 9 a.m. Seventeen finalists will be selected to perform at the Series.”

No alternate audition dates will be offered and all applicants must be available to perform during the Series, which starts on Saturday, June 14 and concludes on either Tuesday, June 24 or Wednesday, June 25, Karmazin added.
The College World Series of Omaha Inc., began holding formal auditions in 1995, due to the growing interest in singing the National Anthem that has accompanied the Series’ rising popularity.
